- From San Diego: Freeway 8 East to Gila Bend, North on AZ-85. I40 East at Flagstaff. The Grand Canyon Southern Rim is about 1.5 hours North of Flagstaff. From the Grand Canyon Southern Rim, you can take a different route that takes you to the 4 corners or you can go back to Flagstaff and head to Albuquerque.
